Safe Work Australia updates 2017 fatality figures
Recent figures from Safe Work Australia show as at 26 April, 51 Australian workers have been killed at work in 2017. The Transport, postal & warehousing sector has recorded the highest number of fatalities, with 19 people killed so far.
Agriculture, forestry & fishing workplaces have recorded 11 fatalities, while the construction industry has 9 fatalities.
Other industries that have seen fatalities this year include Arts & recreation services (3), Electricity, gas, water & waste services (3) and mining (2).
The following industries have each one fatality: Manufacturing, Public administration & safety, Accommodation & food services and Retail trade.
